Model Fitting Checklist for Brand Shoots in the Philippines
Plan a model wardrobe fitting before a Philippine brand shoot: when to book one, what to prepare, how to scope it, and who approves changes.
A model wardrobe fitting is a session before the shoot where the team tries the selected outfits on the booked model and fixes problems while there is still time. Book one when the result depends on garment fit, and agree its time, pay, location and approver in writing together with the shoot booking.
Decide whether the shoot needs a fitting
CM Models' fitting guide describes fittings ahead of shows, photo shoots and commercials, especially larger productions. Stylists' chosen garments and accessories are tried on and adjusted, in a showroom or at the shoot location, and the agency stresses that accurate model measurements matter. CM Models is an overseas agency, so read this as an example of practice rather than a Philippine standard.
A fitting is usually worth scheduling when:
- the shoot is for apparel, swimwear or tailored pieces
- each model has several looks, layers or accessories
- you have only one size of each sample
- the client will judge the result on how the clothes sit
If the model wears their own clothes, a size check by message may be enough.
A wardrobe fitting is not a fit-model booking
A UV Skinz casting call separates two roles. Its fit models are chosen to match measurement specifications and help check garment fit and form, while its product models appear in studio photos for the website, catalog and emails. Points of Measure describes a technical fit as comparing a factory sample with the requested specs, then sending corrections back for the next sample. Both are US product-development examples, not Philippine rules.
This guide covers the campaign case: a booked model trying on finished outfits before a shoot. If you are developing a garment and need someone whose measurements match your size chart, write a separate fit-model brief.
Fitting brief checklist
This is an editorial worksheet, not an industry standard.
| Item | What to settle before the fitting |
|---|---|
| Looks | Outfit list per model, with photos or style codes |
| Samples and sizes | Which sizes exist, who brings them, and a backup if a size fails |
| Measurements | Current measurements from the model, limited to the ones the looks need |
| Appointment | Date, start time, address and expected length |
| Pay scope | Whether the fitting is in the shoot fee or quoted separately, plus travel |
| Wardrobe | Shoes, undergarments or base layers the model should bring |
| Privacy | A private changing area and mirror, and who will be in the room |
| Photos | Who photographs each look and who can see those images |
| Approval | One named person who signs off on looks and changes |
Points of Measure lists a private dressing area and mirror as part of a fit room. The same applies to a shoot fitting. Tell the model beforehand who will attend, and share fitting photos only with the people preparing the shoot.
Name one approver for changes
Points of Measure gives one role, the technical designer, charge of running a garment fitting. A shoot fitting benefits from the same clarity, and on a brand shoot that person is usually the stylist or producer. Decide beforehand whether the client approves on the spot or reviews photos afterwards, so the model is not kept waiting for unplanned sign-off. Write down each change, such as a size swap or a replaced piece, and send the final look list to the stylist and photographer.
Copyable fitting message
Hi [name], thanks for confirming the shoot on [date]. We would like a wardrobe fitting at [address] on [date and time]. We expect it to take about [time] for [number] looks. The fitting is [included in your shoot fee / quoted separately at the rate you confirm], and we will [cover / not cover] travel. Please bring [shoes, base layers]. There is a private changing area, and [names and roles] will attend. [Name] will approve the final looks. Can you confirm, and send current measurements for [the measurements the looks need]?
Book the model and the fitting together
Put the fitting in the same written booking as the shoot, with the fee scope and any extra time. For quote questions, see the model talent fee guide. To compare candidates first, use the model shortlist guide. To find models, browse portfolios on Idol or post a casting brief that mentions the fitting from the start.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a model fitting before every shoot?
No. A fitting helps when the result depends on how garments sit on the body, such as apparel, tailored pieces or several outfit changes. If the model wears their own clothes or the styling is loose, a size check by message may be enough.
Is a wardrobe fitting the same as hiring a fit model?
No. A wardrobe fitting prepares chosen outfits for a shoot. A fit model helps a brand check sample garments against its size specifications during product development. They are different jobs and need different briefs.
Should a model be paid for a fitting?
Agree it before the appointment. State whether the fitting is part of the shoot fee or quoted separately, and whether you cover travel. Put the answer in the same written booking as the shoot.
What should a brand prepare for a model fitting?
Have the selected garments in the sizes you expect to use, the shoes and accessories for each look, and a way to photograph every outfit. Arrange a private changing area and name the person who approves changes.
How long should a model fitting take?
It depends on the number of looks and how many changes you expect. Estimate the time from your outfit list, tell the model in advance, and confirm whether extra time is covered by the agreed fee.
